Reference Range

Factor II (G20210A) mutation analysis interpretative guideline:
Heterozygous positive result is associated with a 2-5 full increased risk for venous thrombosis, increased risk for obstetric complications, and possibly premature coronary heart disease.  Thrombosis risk increases synergistically with oral contraceptive use and factor V Leiden mutation.  Homozygous positive results are rare.  Homozygous prothrombin mutations increase the risk further, but it is not yet known how much the risk is increased.  Normal results do not rule out the presence of other rare mutations within the prothrombin gene.  All test results should be interpreted in conjunction with clinical and family data.
