Submit the following specimen:

 

Specimen Type:  Citrated plasma

Container/Tube: Blue top (citrate)

Specimen Volume:  Required full blue tube needs to be drawn. Min plasma is 1 cc.

Note: This assay is useful for assessment of compliance, or suspicion of overdose

 

Rivaroxaban <20 ng/ml rivaroxaban level is below assay linear range - proceed as if the patient has not had any recent rivaroxaban dose.

 

Rivaroxaban >20 ng/ml, last rivaroxaban dose is unknown but may be <8 hours ago.

 

The therapeutic concentration of rivaroxaban has not been established. In some clinical situations, assessment of drug plasma concentrations may be useful.

 

Alert: Potential for cross reactivity if the patient is on UF heparin or LMW heparin, leading to misleading Rivaroxaban results.
