Specimen Requirements

Submit the following specimen:
 

Cytology

Specimen Type:  Urine, CSF, Body Fluids

Container/Tube:  Sterile Container

Additional Instructions: 

1,  CSF specimens must be delivered within 4 hours.

2.  If other specimen types cannot be delivered to laboratory within 4 hours, sample can be refrigerated for up to 24 hours.  

Tissue

Specimen Type:  Varies

Container/Tube:  Sterile Container

Additional Instruction:

1.  Specimens for frozen section:  submit in sterile container no preservative, and deliver immediately to lab.

2.  Specimens for routine histology evaluation:  Submit in 10% NBF (formalin).

3.  Specimens for special studies:  Contact Pathology Dept at 310.517.4649
