Interpretive Guidelines:
Cholesterol-rich effusions not only have high cholesterol levels,
but usually contain microscopically identifiable cholesterol
crystals. Cholesterol levels in these fluids range from that
normally present in serum to as high as 2600 mg/dL.
There are no established reference range for fluid cholesterol.
