Container:  Sterile stool container

 

Specimen Types:  Stool (container "s" - see link under Resources to see picture)

 

Collection Instructions:

1.  Collect fecal specimens into a clean, airtight container with no preservatives. 

2.  Send to lab ASAP

Stability:  Specimens can be stored refrigerated for up to 2 weeks

Note:  Since lactoferrin is present in human breast milk, the presence of lactoferrin in infant specimens will be confirmed by microscopy.
