Specimen Requirements

Specimen Type:  Varies.  (container “s”) - Click under “Resources” to see picture)

  1. For Scabies, submit skin scrapings, preferably on glass microscope slide covered with a clean slide and secured with a rubber band holding the 2 slides together.  Place slides in a clean, dry  container for transport to laboratory.
  2. Submit suspect whole worm and/or worm segments in a clean container.  Alcohol or formalin  may be added to keep from drying out.
  3. Submit suspect arthropod (ticks, lice, nits, bed bugs, etc) in a clean, dry container.
